Riverside School serves the local community with the very highest standard of education to ensure ‘Excellence for All’. Riverside works in partnership with the Local Authority (London Borough of Barking & Dagenham) to meet the needs of a rapidly growing school population in the Thames View and Riverside areas in the south of the Borough, adjoining the Thames. At Riverside School, we uphold the traditional values of strong discipline, school uniform and a demanding classroom ethos. We demand that the children at Riverside achieve the very best that they are capable of, but we also work to ensure that they are happy and feel secure at school.
Learning can be difficult and challenging at times, and it is our job, with the support of parents, to keep the pressure on and maintain motivation. We believe in firm discipline: without good order in the classroom teachers cannot teach and students cannot learn. At Riverside School we do not tolerate any student who wants to stop others from learning. We expect students to take a pride in belonging to their school by wearing correct school uniform and wearing it smartly and properly. We also expect students to get involved in the wider life of the school: to join clubs, get involved in sports teams and take part in school productions.
In September 2017 we moved into our purpose built £45 million building which also accommodates Riverside Primary School and Riverside Bridge School (special school) on one campus. The collaboration and joint planning of all three schools affords students opportunities to move seamlessly between schools for a range of learning experiences. Riverside School is one of the founding schools in the Partnership Learning Teaching School Alliance which is a network of schools that serve the East London boroughs of Barking & Dagenham and Havering.
Riverside School plays an integral leading role in the Alliance, helping to source and support the recruitment of new and high quality teachers into the profession. Our success is a result of an absolute emphasis on learning, the brilliant parental support that we receive and our close-knit team of enthusiastic and incredibly talented staff.
