The School Council have produced the following list of values which they feel are at the heart of Riverside School:
- Learning is at the heart of everything we do
- We celebrate our diversity
- We respect each other
- We have high aspirations
Excellence for All
At the Riverside School, we uphold the traditional values of strong discipline, high expectations and a demanding academic curriculum. At the same time we are totally committed to the best use of 21st century computer technology to help teaching and learning. Our first priority is the development of every students’ academic potential to the fullest.
We demand that the students at Riverside achieve the very best that they are capable of, but we also work to ensure that they are happy and feel secure at school. Learning can be difficult and challenging at times, and it is our job, with the support of parents, to keep the pressure on and maintain motivation.
We believe in firm discipline: without good order in the classroom teachers cannot teach and students cannot learn. At Riverside School we do not tolerate any student who wants to stop others from learning. We expect students to take pride in belonging to their school by wearing correct school uniform and wearing it smartly and properly.
We also expect students to get involved in the wider life of the school: to join clubs, get involved in sports teams and take part in school productions. In short, to take advantage of all the opportunities that an exciting school like Riverside offers.
Modern British Values
Modern British Values are taught in every aspect of school life at Riverside: in the classroom, through our guest speakers, on the sports field and in daily interactions between staff and students. Click here for more details on how Modern British Values are embedded in the life of Riverside School.
