Lee Valley VeloPark cycling centre on Queen Elizabeth Olympic Park

On Friday 14th December, seventeen students from year 7 – 10 were lucky enough to attend the Track Cycling World Cup at the Lee Valley VeloPark in the Olympic Park, Stratford. The students were selected as a reward for their commitment to extra-curricular PE and for being elite performers in their sport.

It was a fantastic day, as students were able to witness athletes from all over the world compete at the highest level at a world class venue. It was first day of the 2 day Track Cycling World Cup and races such as Team Pursuit, Team Sprint, and Para-Cycling Tandem Sprints. The students behaved impeccably all day. Mr Bailey, who organised the trip said “the students were a credit to themselves and this school. They were amazed by the speed of which the cyclists competed at and the level of competition throughout the day”. Michael in year 10 said it was a “brilliant day”.

There will be many more opportunities and trips in the new year for to celebrate the sporting successes of our elite performers.
